Message from the Superintendent: School Re-Opening Update 7/11/2020

11 July 2020

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

I hope that you are staying well and enjoying these summer days.

We are busy in the schools planning for the safe re-opening of our buildings for all students in September. Your input on our “Your Voice Matters” family survey has been very helpful to the leadership team, faculty, and Board of Education, as we work diligently to plan for September. Once our District’s Re-Opening Plan has been approved by the County Department of Education, I will be permitted to share it with you. Our Plan’s primary goals are the health and safety of our students and staff, while also returning all students to in-person instructional days and offering e-learning to those children who are unable to return to school.

Although we are in the summer months, we know families still find themselves navigating different home routines and balancing changed schedules. Our District’s trained professionals continue to be here to support you. If you have questions, just want to talk – with our without your child – or if you simply are interested in learning more, we have designed pathways for your choosing. During July and August, our District is continuing to offer OT Connections: Want to Talk? Want to Read? Want to Check In? This three-part support system is intended to give you opportunities to connect with our trained health and wellness professionals. You will find direct contact information for them, and you will be able to see the dates and times of our upcoming sets of virtual check-in sessions. As we lead up to our September return, our home-school connection remains critical. Please consider taking advantage of OT Connections!

I anticipate being able to share a presentation of our District’s Re-Opening Plan with you soon. As I await approval from the Department of Education’s officials on our Re-Opening Plan, we will be turning our attention to finalizing plans for a Summer Skill-Booster Program in August.

Thank you for your strong partnership with our school community!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Respectfully,

Danielle M. Da Giau, Ed.D.
