Message from the Superintendent: Remote e-Learning 11/16/20-11/25/20

14 November 2020

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

This correspondence is to inform you that an individual in our District has tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).  Due to this individual’s connection with maintenance/custodial staff, the majority of our maintenance/custodial staff must quarantine.

Because we will not have the personnel available to properly clean and sanitize our school buildings, the decision has been made to move to a fully-remote e-learning model for our entire District from 16 November through 25 November.  We will re-open the District to students for in-person instruction on Monday, 30 November 2020.

We will be re-scheduling TBD’s Photo Day, which was scheduled for Monday, 11/16. Once a new date is set, we will communicate that to the appropriate grade levels. We will be communicating with Grade 8 families about the Renaissance Reading Test for NVOT, which was scheduled for Thursday, 11/19.

As you think about the approaching Thanksgiving holiday, I encourage you to consult the travel advisory list, which is updated regularly. If your family chooses to travel to a location on this list, please contact the school so that we may keep your child on remote instruction for the period of time following the Thanksgiving holiday for the purpose of quarantine.

If your child develops one or more COVID-19 related symptoms while learning remotely at home or during the Thanksgiving holiday, please contact your doctor and the school nurse.  It is important to inform the school nurse if your child was tested for COVID-19, as well as to share the results. Please feel free to contact Ms. Lehmann (TBD) at 201-664-7176 ext. 1104/ [email protected]  or Ms. McCarthy (CDW) at 201-664-1475 ext. 2103/ [email protected] .

We understand the level of concern regarding COVID-19. We encourage parents/guardians and students to continue to follow the CDC-promoted safeguards, such as:

  • Staying home when you are sick;
  • Washing hands often with soap for at least 20 seconds;
  • Covering coughs and sneezes and properly disposing of tissues;
  • Limiting close contact with people who are sick and not sharing food, drinks and utensils;
  • Practicing social distancing;
  • Wearing a face covering while in school; and
  • Continuing to monitor your health for symptoms.
