Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year in the Old Tappan Public School District! 

I hope you are enjoying the summer and that you and your child(ren) are looking ahead to beginning another school year soon. We are anxious to fill the schools again with sounds of learning and student movement, and we are looking forward to a much more typical year – with a return of all that we enjoy at TBD and CDW. If the Governor’s current decision regarding masks remains with local school districts, masks will be optional. As September draws closer, I will share relevant District updates with you.


Thank you to the families and students who participated in our District’s Your Voice Matters Survey. Seventy-five (75) family surveys were submitted, and 44 student surveys (Grades 2-8) were submitted. The presentation of results is posted online for your perusal.

To prepare for September, we are issuing the annual Summer Packet, which contains all forms and documents required for the 2021-2022 school year.


The Summer Packet is integrated into Genesis, our online Student Management System and Parent Portal. When the schools are ready to release teacher assignments at both TBD and CDW, you will only be able to access that information through the Parent Portal if you have completed the required forms in the Summer Packet. 


Use the following URL (and bookmark it) to get to the Genesis Parent Portal:

Use your Genesis username and password to access the Parent Portal. Our new parents/guardians should have received usernames and passwords via e-mail from the school secretary. If you are unable to access Genesis, please contact your school's Main Office.  


Once in Genesis, you will be brought directly to the Forms Library. 

1.  The Summer Packet information is available under the "Documents" tab. Please be sure to review all of the documents.

2.  Complete all of the required forms under the "Forms" tab. All submissions must be made PRIOR to the first day of school. 

If you have more than one child in our schools, then you must submit the Summer Packet forms for each student, by selecting each child from the blue drop-down menu. 

By late August, you will receive another correspondence letting you know that you may go back into the Parent Portal to access the name of your child's grade-level teacher (TBD) or homeroom/period 1 teacher (CDW). However, in order to gain access to this teacher assignment information, all required forms in the Summer Packet must be submitted. 

Our first day of school is Thursday, 2 September 2021. Students in Grades 1-8 will be dismissed at 12:30 PM. Preschool and Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 11:45 AM on this first day. Please, plan accordingly. 

In the meantime, here are some upcoming event dates at our schools:

  • 8/18: Locker Day for Incoming Grade 5 Students at 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • 8/19: Locker Day for Incoming Grade 6 Students at 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • 8/26: CDW Principal Meet-and-Greet at 7:00 PM
  • 8/30: Kindergarten Round-Up for Incoming K Parents at 10:00 AM or 7:00 PM
  • 8/31 and 9/1: CDW New to District Student Orientation at 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM
  • 9/23: CDW Back-to-School Night at 7:00 PM
  • 9/29: TBD Back-to-School Night start times will vary by grade-level


As school event dates become available, they will be posted to our digital calendars on our District's website.
