Message from the Superintendent: Remote e-Learning 11/30/20 - 12/11/20

27 November 2020

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

I am contacting you to let you know that officials from Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission, which is the Health Department for Old Tappan, informed me that contact tracing investigations have shown a significant rise in the number of positive COVID-19 test results throughout the Old Tappan community. Due to the case-positivity rate in the Borough of Old Tappan, the Health Department officials advised me to suspend in-person instruction for the next two weeks.

Therefore, all TBD and CDW students will continue with remote e-learning through Friday, 11 December.  Unless the Health Department notifies us otherwise, students will return to in-person instruction on Monday, 14 December.

Ms. Boyce will communicate any specifics related to TBD, including the re-scheduling of Grades 3 and 4 school photos again. I will communicate with Grade 8 families about the Renaissance Reading Test for NVOT, which had been re-scheduled for this upcoming week.

I know that this news is not what any of us wanted to hear, since nothing compares to in-person learning. Even though no cases have been transmitted in our schools, we must follow the Health Department’s advice in order to keep our whole community safe. During this time of remote e-learning, everyone in our Old Tappan community is asked to do all they can to stay safe and healthy.
