Message from the Superintendent: Thank You and Your Voice Matters - Family and Student Surveys

15 June 2021

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

This certainly has been a school year none of us hopes to ever repeat. However, despite the challenges, we met with many successes. We were able to do so because of your trust in us and your support of our work with your child(ren). This school year has proven that an ethic of care anchors our schools, and we are truly fortunate to have each other.

We are excited to return to our typical school routines next school year. One of our newer routines, aimed at keeping us fresh and in-tune, is the annual solicitation of stakeholder feedback. In doing so, our District is conducting its annual “Your Voice Matters” surveys to gather input from all of our families, our students (Grades 2-8), and our teachers regarding their experiences this past school year.

The links to our District’s “Your Voice Matters” surveys are below. Please take the time to let us know your thoughts. The surveys will close at 11:59 PM on 30 June 2021.

The highlights of the findings from our “Your Voice Matters” surveys will be posted to our website for your perusal during the summer. Additionally, you will hear from me during the summer months if updated school guidance becomes available that impacts our District regarding quarantining for positive cases and close contacts, as well as mask-use.

If you have interest in the District’s no-charge, July Summer Skill-Booster Program but have not yet registered, please be sure to register here. The registration window closes on 30 June.

As this school year comes to a close, please join me in recognizing two longtime faculty members who will be retiring at the end of this month - Janice Lehmann, school nurse, and Al Natoli, music teacher. We thank them for their years of service to the children of Old Tappan and wish them health and happiness in retirement.

On behalf of the Board of Education, faculty, and staff, congratulations to our Grade 4 students crossing over to middle school and to our Grade 8 students moving on to high school. We wish the Grade 8 Class of 2021 much joy and learning on their high school journey.

We thank YOU for your strong and continuous partnership with our school community. We are looking forward to the 2021-2022 school year!

Respectfully,

Danielle M. Da Giau, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools/Acting Principal, CDW
