Inter-scholastic Sports:
Sports Physicals-
Proof of an up-to-date physical examination is required two weeks prior to trying out for or participating in the CDW Inter-scholastic Sports program. The date of the physical exam must have been within one year of the beginning of the season in which the student will be participating. Fall Sports
CDW Soccer-
Our coed soccer team is composed of students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. The team usually plays a 12 game fall schedule, competing twice against each of the other middle schools in the
Tryouts for the team are announced in the fall and scheduled for several afternoons following the opening of school. The team generally practices twice a week and plays two games each week. Games are played under N.F.H.S. rules with the exception that teams play two 30 minute periods instead of 40 minutes. Overtime is not played, except during the tournament. Home games are played on the CDW field.
The 2011-12 team had an outstanding year with an overall record of 12-0-1. The CDW team captured the Northern Valley Championship with a 2-1 win over Harrington Park in the tournament finals.
The CDW girls volleyball team is composed of students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. The team usually plays a 12 game fall schedule, competing twice against each of the other middle schools in the

The 2011-12 team had a very successful year, finishing with a 10-1 record. A loss in the semi-finals of the Northern Valley tournament did nothing to diminish the outstanding season of the 2011-12 team.
Winter Sports
CDW Boys Basketball-
The CDW boys basketball team consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Tryouts are announced in November, and approximately 15 boys are selected for the team. League games are played against the Northern Valley middle schools, as well as independent games with Woodcliff Lake and Alpine.
The 2011-12 CDW boys basketball team received major contributions from a number of players and finished with a 9-5 record, making it to the tournament semi-finals.
CDW Girls Basketball-
The CDW girls basketball team consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Tryouts are announced in November, and approximately 15 girls are selected for the team. League games are played against the Northern Valley middle schools, as well as local independent games. The 2011-12 girls basketball team finished the season with a 14-0 record, capturing the Northern Valley Championship for the second consecutive year with a 45-41 win over Haworth.
Spring Sports
CDW Girls Softball-
The CDW girls softball team consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Tryouts are announced in late March or early April, and approximately 15 girls are selected for the team. An eleven game schedule is played against area middle schools with a season-ending tournament held at CDW middle school. The 2011-12 team had a successful season, exiting the Northern Valley Playoffs in the semi-finals.
CDW Boys Baseball-
The CDW boys baseball team consists of 7th and 8th graders. Tryouts are announced in late March or early April, and approximately 15 boys are selected for the team. An eleven game schedule is played against area middle schools with a season-ending tournament hosted by CDW at
CDW Track Team-
The CDW track team is the largest of the school’s teams, with a no-cut policy allowing all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students the opportunity to participate. This year’s team had approximately 110 student-athletes, with everyone eligible to participate in each meet.
Student sign-ups take place in late March or early April, and practice is at CDW every day following school (weather permitting). Meet events include 60, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 meter races, as well as shot put, discus, and long jump. Team relays are contested in the 4x 100 and the 4 x 200 meter events. The team’s commitment and hard work has paid off, as evidenced by CDW winning the Golden Knights Invitational each of the past eight years.
